Smiling at the start, in the middle and at the end. What an amazing race! Felt great the whole way and had a good kick at the end which I was really happy about. Got a bit teary eyed just past mile 25 thinking about all the hard work and dedication that went into this today. I felt the weight of how strong I can be when I am focused, determined and put the work in! Even when life got in the way I stayed the course and never lost sight of the end goal. What an amazing feeling to recognize your strengths. Congrats to all the runners out there that dug in, ran hard and never gave up! Oh and my Hall and Oats shirt was a hit! 

Hydration

HYDRATION MUST HAPPEN. After a week that literally kicked my ass which was fueled by coffee and absolutely NO water the need to regroup and refocus is essential. This is happening all day for the next two days! It’s prep time! Need to set my body up for success on Sunday.

Post Run Meal

SUPER EASY AND QUICK..Post run meal. Has all the essential macronutrients, protein(eggs), fat(avocado) and carbs (Vans Ancient Grains waffle) for after a workout. And it literally took me 4 minutes to make. I timed it 🙂 I am not an extravagant cook, nor do my food pictures look pretty and perfect but the food itself gets the job done regardless. When you don’t have a lot of time and are juggling a million things there is still a way to healthy meals. 

Fantasy Food Prep VS Reality

My fantasy food prep vs my reality food prep. Mornings can be wild in my house and so my food prep is sometimes being done in between getting kids dressed, teeth brushed and back packs ready. Yes I should probably do this all at night but sometimes you’re just too tired. It may not look picture perfect but it doesn’t always need to be to still prep healthy foods for the day.

Neat and Pretty

And sometimes it’s not that neat and pretty. My breakfast, a banana, water and a waffle with almond butter. The waffle with almond butter is not pictured because I shoveled it in while simultaneously getting out of the house with two kids and 7 bags. And a mid morning snack of Siggis @siggisdairy plain yogurt, blueberries, granola and cinnamon eaten standing up because I was in between work, laundry and dishes etc. Life can get hectic sometimes but there’s still a way to manage eating well (even if it’s not neat and pretty) while juggling all the other demands you have. And while best practices would be slow down, eat without distractions so you can be mindful that isn’t always realistic.
